Prescription Suncream

Theresa May suggested during PMQs getting a prescription for sun cream (there is currently a campaign to remove VAT from high factor sun cream).
Initially I thought that would be bonkers because you'd end up paying £9 for sun cream, but then I thought some people get free prescriptions...
Has anyone ever asked their GP for a prescription for sun cream? Just seems a bit weird/time consuming!

My aunt and I am talking years ago 30+ got free sun cream on prescription. She was allergic to the sun and had to wear it every day when going out and about. She broke out in a rash just walking around not sunbathing which she never did.0

I would imagine it is for people who have a medical issue with being in the sun or putting on normal suncream, e.g. the lady mentioned above and people with albinism etc.
I don't imagine my GP would prescribe me factor 15 so I can sit in the garden and top up my tan.0 -
If you work outdoors, then in my opinion your employer should be providing you with sun cream if and when necessary. My former employer did (in the summer).
For people with sun sensitivities, the most effective thing is to cover up as much as possible. In fact this is sensible for everyone when UV strengths are high.
If you are talking about going on holiday abroad, or sunbathing in the UK, then buy your own!0
