Having followed some of your journeys for quite a while now, and after the breakdown of my marriage last year, I’ve decided it’s finally time to write a diary! Due to the breakdown in marriage I was in a bit of a pickle, but have worked hard the last 9 months to clear most of the debt left to me. Yesterday I cleared my £800 overdraft, paid off the last BNPL payment for an item on very, meaning I won’t accrue interest and also paid off another BNPL payment a month early! I have over the last few months cleared loans, credit cards and various other bits and bobs. So still left to go is…
Capital One credit card- £83.17
Very- £888.24 (£390 is BNPL till next year.....the other amount is accrued interest )
Tax credit overpayment- £80
Universal credit overpayment- £134.93 (this is currently being repaid by being deducted off each months payment)
I use the credit card to make approximately £100 worth of payments a month, then pay it off, in order to improve my credit score.
I have also got £700 in an EF and £300 in a separate account for Christmas.
All in all I’m in a much better financial position than this time last year (even though the household income has dropped by about 2/3s.....go figure:rotfl:) but still room for improvement. I’m going to do an SOA later, because I definitely overspend in certain areas! I’m self employed, with 3 children, and currently in my most profitable period, so aiming to clear as much of it as possible while still having fun with the children. We’ll have to move at some point too, so I really need to boost the savings to help with that.
Not much planned today, have been trying to declutter in preparation for the move, so will maybe crack on with another room today. NSD planned......have been haemorrhaging money a bit as mine are already on summer hols
Hope everyone has a good Sunday!
