Hi folks
I'll try and be brief.... I was made redundant a couple of months ago so money is very tight. My husband is 60 on Friday and I feel I want to do something but my mother has just died and so I am doing funeral things. How do I try and make Friday a little special - I have bought a nice dinner but my mind is so much on other things. Any help really appreciated
Thanks

How about candles and using the nice china and posh tabecloth with flowers on the table - a flower from the garden and greenery in a small container would do."This site is addictive!"

I'm so sorry to hear about your loss and redundancy.... that's a horrid double whammy.
I'm sure your husband will quite understand that you won't be able to organise anything grand for him at the moment. If I were him, I'd be amazed just to get a nice meal at a time like this. If you were able to, maybe you could rent a video/dvd you know he'd like... maybe one that has meaning to the two of you... and have a special night in together.
Alternatively, have you got any family or friends who would invite you over and do a little something together... just a casual do?“A journey is best measured in friends, not in miles.”

Thanks Elona and Nenen
Problem sorted as our very close friends have invited us to stay for the w/e so we will be doing 'something' different. I will do the nice meal tomorrow and go away on Sat am. Will put everything else on hold. He does understand and has said forget it, but I can't just do that so this is a good solution (and gives me a break too!)
