Where are all the Friday radio comps?

There used to be quite a few decent radio comps each Friday, but of late they seem to have dwindled down to one. Is there any reason for this?

Kiss are still running a traditional comp from Tuesday to Friday, and Wave usually run one on Friday only.
Most of the other Bauer radio stations are currently running daily comps for shared cash prizes where you have to tell them the day's prize amount/word if the phone you - there are 3 national ones (plus one for N.Ireland only) on at the moment.
Best search term to find these is bauerweb

If Global's success with Capital's Cash Call competition is anything to go by, that is the likely direction of where radio stations are likely to go with their competitions - SMS only, no free entry route.
Recent Jazz FM competitions (since Bauer purchased them) have moved away from free web entry to postal entry as the free entry route for their main comps. Next week, they launch their Jazz FM Legends competition which sounds similar in make-up to Capital's Cash Call competition. We'll see on Monday when the terms and conditions come out as to if Bauer is following in Global's footsteps and if this is a trial run out for the other stations.
Sadly, radio stations may now be going down the same road as ITV did a few years ago, if they can convert free web entrants to paid entrants and it makes more money than the current set-up, then that's the way forward they will go. Particularly as Bauer needs to make up the revenue for the radio station groups they bought up and Global keeps one step ahead of Bauer in radio industry consolidation.0 -
Yep, Global have already done the deed and shed 100's of jobs it looks like Bauer could do the same and if dropping free web entry makes more money they will probably follow suit there as well.
From earlier this weekOfcom has granted Bauer a number of Format changes to allow all of its stations to network all but three hours each weekday rather than the previous seven
Starting today, the four Free Radio stations in the West Midlands are now sharing two breakfast shows and one drive show.
In addition, starting this weekend, CFM, Hallam FM, Hits Radio Manchester, Metro Radio, Viking FM, Radio Aire, Rock FM, TFM, Free Radio (Birmingham), Free Radio (Coventry and Warwickshire), Free Radio (Herefordshire and Worcestershire) and Free Radio (Wolverhampton, the Black Country and Shropshire) will share all weekend programmes, marking the end of local weekend shows on these stations.
Global submitted its requests late last year and was granted permission shortly afterwards, leading to the networking of breakfast shows on Capital and Heart, and the loss of hundreds of on-air and producer positions.
Whether Bauer follows Global and replaces the majority of local programmes on its Hits Radio network is yet to be seen, but some recent moves, such as Free Radio’s new “Hits at Breakfast” show, more weekend networking, this error, and Gem now using the same strapline as Hits Radio, already suggest it is only a matter of time before the stations are streamlined.0 -
Not only that, where have all the Twitter Freebie Friday comps gone?
There seems to be hardly any now. It's really dropped off this year.
