Timescales for Application submitted to court to discharge mortgage as company no longer exist.

We live in Scotland and have recently sold our house and were due to move out next week. We have been informed by our solicitor there is going to be a delay as the couple buying our property paid their mortgage off several years ago, however the mortgage company no longer exists and they have never had a discharge. They are in receipt of all the paperwork and an application has been lodged at the court for discharging the security. Does anyone have experience of this and how long this could take and what the timescales will roughly be?

We are being pushed by the builder to sign the missives for our new house but are unable to do so until this matter is dealt with and nobody seems to be able to give us any idea of timescales if we are talking weeks or months.
