Impossible to answer that without knowing his full NI history and whether he has been 'contracted out' of the state additional pension at any stage. See https://www.gov.uk/new-state-pension/what-youll-getGoogling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!0

I'm not sure I understand the question.
You say "decision came through today about how much state pension he is going to get".
Doesn't that tell you how much it is going to be?
Do you think the amount is wrong?0 -

I think it's pretty clear that's exactly what OP is worried about - and given the recent publicity about incorrect state pension forecasts, you can see why. Sadly nobody here is going to be able to answer the question, though.0 -
It sounds as though the OP may have expected a different sum than has been forecast.
Limars if you provide more info, i.e. the actual forecast amount then you may receive some insight.0 -
The current UK State pension is anything between zero and £310 per week depending on past salary, NI contributions and if contracted in or out.
OP - as others have said, we'd need some more information to be able to help. ie, amount forecast, number of years NI paid and dates of contracted out service (if applicable).0 -

At present in the transition between SERPS & single pension we just have to accept whatever the figure that we are given by the Pension Service once we have confirmed that all contributions are accounted for. They do not produce a statement showing how your pension is calculated just a list of contribution years plus a notional COPE & a bottom line figure of the pension you will receive & the maximum pension you could receive if you paid up missing years.Silvertabby wrote: »The current UK State pension is anything between zero and £310 per week depending on past salary, NI contributions and if contracted in or out.
