Using carry forward- will online self assessment return calculate relief correctly?

Options
Does anyone know the answer to this.

I've searched the internet and it seems that I don't need to say anywhere in the return that I've exceeded the annual allowance for pension contributions but am using carry forward so as to claim tax relief on my contributions above the annual allowance.

I want to be really sure, before I submit my return online, that the online system will calculate tax relief on the full amount of my contributions, i.e. including on the portion paid using carry forward.

Has anyone come across this? I'd be really grateful for some help.

Thanks

This worked for me the last time I did it - albeit that was for 2013/14.

I can't guarantee nothing has changed since then, but the self-assessment software didn't seem to even attempt to validate your pension contribution against annual allowance.

    Yes, it does.

You will be able to see it on your calculation, which you can view before you submit.
