House to be repo'ed and council tax

Hi,
Our house is going to get repossed, we have not paid the mortgage or secured loan since April 07 and moved out in July 07 as we wanted to get settled. The council tax was transferred to the new address and we was told we had 6 months to sell the house or we would have to begin to pay the council tax again. The 6 months are up in Jan and we have still heard nothing from the mortage as to the repo and I cannot afford to pay another council tax on top of what I am paying.
Has anyone been in this postion or can anyone offer any advise?

Was in same situation house was inevitably going to be repossessed, so I found somewhere else and voluntary surrendered the house to mortgage company. This way from date I handed keys back it was repossessed, saving them legal costs (which made them happier and more flexible with moving out date) and ensured I was no longer responsible for prop from date moved out. You could still do this now. Just aske for a vol. repossession form, its very easy. Hope this helps.0
