Buying a car at an Auction

I bought my first car at an auction many decades ago at Mallusk . I am now toying with doing the same now.
I was a bit naive when I bought my first car. I just made a few bids on a car and found that I had bought my first car. I did not register as a bidder or pay a deposit before bidding. I think I took the bus to Mallusk the next day to collect the car and arranged tax and insurance before I went. I also think I paid by cash.
However, times have changed since then and I have a few queries:
1. Do you have to pay a deposit to bid?
2. Do you pay on the day of the auction, or can you pay when you are collecting the car? Is there any time limit on when you collect the car?
3. What payment methods do they accept? Bank transfer, credit card, cash?

From memory, the last time i used Wilson's you paid a refundable deposit for a bidding number. I'm not sure any accept cash now so it might need to be cleared funds in to their account.
I would be inclined to check the auction's website as their terms and conditions will be listed there - all will vary between auction companies.
If its unclear, you could ring them and ask, they are usually very helpful.0
