O/S Daily Thursday 4 July 2019

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning everyone

Hugs to those that want/need one, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

Bright sunshine here to start the day again. Wash load ready to go out on the line shortly. Will need to water the plants also.

DH and DS1 getting ready for work, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here. DS2 settled and ok.

Dinner last night was fried new potatoes, bacon, sausages, mushrooms, beans and fried egg - used up items from the fridge - which is now starting to look a bit bare - but will give it an empty and a clean at some point today. Not sure what we will be eating today maybe something with mash - I can sort that out whilst I'm out this morning.

I have the normal "to do" list also so need to get going working my way through that, also need to organise clothes to pack for holiday - if possible I'd like to pack today so it's all done. Nice feeling that I'm not at work for the next 2 weeks - need some time off.

Keep safe and well x

Good morning, thank you for starting today's thread nmlc.

Another day of gorgeous sun. I'm working this afternoon, the early stages of a long piece of work, I think. Yesterday's appointment will almost certainly be a one-off meeting.
Other than work, no interesting plans today.

Hope everyone has as good a day as possible.

Morning folks and thanks NMLC. Another glorious start and forecast to remain so all day. I do love summer.

I had a lovely day out yesterday. Skipton won the toss. Lovely and warm for strolling round the market. We all three got an identical cotton top (really nice chain store surplus) selling for £5. Bargain! We won't all have to wear them next bus trip day or people might mistake us for the Beverley Sisters boarding the bus!

Back to the Red Lion again for lunch. We all plumped for the enormous steak in ale pie, with chips, peas, veg and gravy and were all brusson by the time we had finished it. Only a very light snack was needed for supper after devouring all that.

Being Thursday it's the weekly shopping day. DD collecting me on her way to the school drop at 8.30. The 3 girlies are all back for tea and sleepover after their various activities so of course it's the usual Thursday fix. The Bolognese is already simmering away gently in readiness for the bake to be assembled later.

Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for all the poorlies, sad, worried or lonely and the MIA. POPPY lovely to hear from you yesterday. Take care all xx

Nice bright day here again but with a bit of a breeze which is nice, off to work where we need to prepare food for a party tomorrow for 80 people in out cafe so today will be a busy one.

Laptop is still playing up will have to take it in somewhere at the weekend I did contact someone but they have not got back to me.

Some kind of chicken pasta for dinner tonight with some fresh broad beans and peas picked yesterday at work so they should be lovely.

Good morning, seems to be a fine calm morning here.

NMLC, although I've been retired nearly 11 years, i still remember that lovely "don't have to go to work" feeling

TA, I'm guessing that brusson means you were all fairly full up !! We have words and phrases here that would puzzle a person from outside the area.

Redruby, hope you have a good day at work.

Speky, hope your date goes well.

Yesterday was a busy, ok sort of day. We had Dgs for the morning, and did everything we'd planned, nowt exciting, just general jobs. Sorted some clothes out to go to the caravan, DH will take them today

This morning I think I'll pop to a local shopping centre which is only a short bus ride away, This afternoon I'll continue trying to work out what clothes to take away. It'll be warmer down south, but we'll still end up bringing unworn clothes home, we always do. We're used to packing for the caravan, but in this country you just never know, you can get 4 seasons In as many days.

Hope everyone has good days - Poppy, it was nice to see your post. Thinking of the others who are ill or struggling with life.

    Take care folks xx

    Morning everyone,

A sunny and warm start to this morning. Another busy day in work, with a few interviews to conduct as well as juggle my other responsibilities. No gym this morning but I'll go after work, providing I'm not exhausted from work.

Yesterday was a relatively busy one, again thanks to interviews. At least I grabbed a NSD, making it 3 for 3.

It's my nieces 2nd birthday next week, the one who lives in South Korea, so I need to get a move on with what I can send, that doesn't weight a lot, otherwise it'll soon cost me a fortune!

    Have a cracking day :)

Lovely sunny day again. I just deleted a sentence because I was boring myself so goodness knows what it would have done to you.

Yesterday was more cleaning plus Wimbledon watching. I succumbed and bought myself a pill holder thing. Twice recently I just couldn't remember if I'd taken my morning tablets so I just bought a simple days of the week container. I only take them in the morning so I don't need one that divides up the days.

The only plan today is more cleaning - I like the effect when it's done but I find it very boring. I listen to audiobooks while I clean so that I can do it without going crazy.

Poppy, good to have an update. Thinking of all the poorlies. TA, we'll be in your neck of the woods on Sunday fo a few days. We are having a water meter installed so that should save us some money.

    Morning everyone.

Another Thursday means DM's cleaner is due this morning so I'd better tidy a bit in the kitchen. My decluttering there is going well, yesterday DM suggested I look at two boxes on the pantry floor. There were packets of soup and spice mixes dated BB 2004 / 2006 - all gone now. It's almost criminal! I left three packets of rice as I'm not sure if rice goes off or bad. I'll do an internet search later.

Today I'm tackling the jars of homemade jams - must be at least 20 on the shelf. My Berlin cousin brings some over every year. They'll have to go to a good home or two.

I've booked a haircut for tomorrow morning. Last week I really liked my hair and this week it's like a birds nest.

DM has rallied again! Yesterday she did a couple of small walks to the bathroom on her own. :j Apart from what she calls the 'important' tablets she's not taking the rest.

My cold is running its course, still dripping with lots of sneezing. The Vicks helped my breathing enough to get some sleep last night.

Poppy - lovely to see you yesterday.

My thoughts to all those struggling. Happy Thursday to everyone.

Afternoon all. Lovely day here. We went to dgs's sports day this morning. It was for the two reception classes and lasted an hour. Most activities were running based. Dgs made a valiant effort but as he's the smallest child in reception so it was like pitting a dachshund with greyhounds lol.

The sack race was a bust it came up to his shoulders so a teacher picked him up sack and all and ran with him to the finish line!

We had lunch in the garden and DH has gone to Imperial Park for some plants fill gaps in the borders.

Happy hols nmlc. Hi Poppy. Gers hope you feel better soon.

    Enjoy the sun folks.

    Gintot.
