What's wrong with this house?

Where did the other half of the building go?
From the rear it looks like it should have a twin, same as the rest of the houses in the street, and why the tie bars? Sounds like something major could have happened 'next door'Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -

Yes, I'd call that pretty major, lol.
It's something that could impact the stability of the remaining house regardless of how long ago it was, I wonder how long the ties have been there?
OP, I would ask if any structural survey has taken place recently.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
Last one probably when a load bearing wall was removed.0

Must admit that was my first thought when looking at it, that it was once a semi. The photograph of the rear makes it look even more apparent that it used to be joined.

The north facing garden would be a deal breaker for me.0

It's had a lot of structural work downstairs for a property that's already compromised by losing it's twin. I would want to see all the evidence that it has been signed off properly.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
Thanks, everyone. Some interesting ideas. If I pop along for a viewing I'll let you know what I see. As well as everything else that's been mentioned, my guess is that being next door to parking for the street is offputting too.0
