Former employer not paid into pension

Hi all,
I worked for an employer for 6 months (resigned in march 19, final day last day of march 19) and had contributions taken out of my pay every month but these have not been paid into my Nest pension.
I have left the employment now, but when I resigned they were funny with me (no P45 even though I requested one, no final pay slip, no accrued holiday pay) and now I have had a letter from Nest pensions telling me my account details but there's been no contributions made!
I telephoned Nest who confirmed there is no contributions in the pension but advised me they could not do anything.
I have sent a query to the pensions regulator.
Have they (former employer) broken the law as they have in effect taken money from me but not paid it into my pension?
Is there anything else I could do?
I have not spoken to my former employer about it as they have been unresponsive in the past and not sent me P45 and final wage slip as I had requested.

I'd pay a personal visit to their offices.0

As the op left in March then I wouldn't expect them to get a P60.
But they should either be able to see details of the income reported by this employer on their Personal Tax Account or look at their National Insurance contribution record for 2018:19 which should give a clue as to whether they have been reporting the job to HMRC.0 -

Hi yes so my HMRC file online is up to date for the time of the employment, the wage slips I have had show me that deductions for pension were taken and employers contributions are also marked on there, but there has been nothing deposited into said pension!
Have I been robbed?0 -

I have, not much help0 -
What did TPAS suggest?
At the least you might make a formal complaint in writing to the employer and also to NEST?0 -
Strongly worded letter to the MD & head of HR of previous employer requiring them to give you written details of who their element of the pension contributions have been deposited with.0

I would also contact HMRC and advise them that the employer has not provided a P45. They are required to do so.0
