Oh, plus house insurance, boiler service, alarm service etc.
How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)

..just closed off our EOY accounts with a total spend of around £25k, (which has hardly changed for years). Another year of underspend and over earning due to covid and the lack of travelling. I think next year we will start to see significant increases due to energy costs and inflation in general...

    Here's our spends for 2021

      Annual Mth Ave.
    Bills   4004.71 333.73
    Holidays/Ente   2530.83 210.90
    Car Expenses (1)   725.64 60.47
    Groceries   2439.64 203.30
    Household   4621.08 385.09
    Health/Beauty   1736.86 144.74
    Clothes/Shoes   143.49 11.96
    Fuel   450.4 37.53
    Gifts/Cards   431.45 35.95
    Bank/ISA Fees   481.6 40.13
    Phones/Calls   5 0.42
        17570.7

If we take £2800 out of Household, for the new boiler, then than brings it back to £14,770.
Interested to know if the other Household spend of £1,821 (after taking off the boiler cost) includes things like toiletries and other non-food items in a supermarket shop or are these things included under Groceries?
It also includes £1000 of new recliner chairs!

The rest of "household" is incidental stuff.  DIY, lampshades, gardening, appliances, tools etc etc.

Basically, if we buy it as part of our normal weekly Aldi shop it's Groceries.

Any Aldi "special buys" would be split out of groceries as appropriate.  (Household, clothes, gifts etc)

But if we say pop to Poundland/B&M  for a branded cleaning product, it'd go under Household.

Standard day to day toiletries (Aldi) are Groceries, but any "posh" smellies go under Health and Beauty.

    Hope that helps. 😁
Thanks. Groceries at £2,439 including non-food stuff, is impressive as we are more than double for that!

    Thanks SS, really useful.

I'm guessing that capital spend is taken when incurred rather than accrued including stuff like car depreciation.

How about insurance, is that all under bills? which I assume also includes council tax and utilities which is high and increasing quickly for us.

Fuel cost is very impressive - equates to about 3k miles a year?
    I think....

Capital spend is just as and when.  We do bear it in mind when looking at general affordability.

Insurances are under either household or car expenses.

Bills are all the DD monthly stuff.

Just checked...mileage 2650 in our 1.4T petrol. (Good guess 🏅!!) Which includes 4 UK short breaks and a few days out.  Most day to day stuff is on our doorstep. Within 3-5 miles.

Seems to have forgotten bicycle expenditure. I have had years with very little but never none.

Ha ha. I do like their Xmas advert, but we have been disappointed when we have shopped at out local Aldi, especially with their fruit and veg. So it's usually Morrisons or Asda for our main shop, with top-ups from M&S and Waitrose, which obviously bumps up the monthly figures a bit.
