Hi, although ihave been browsing this forum for a long time to help me get my debts reduced, and am slowly manageing to do so, i have just received a default notice from Virgin media.
I originally had a home phone with NTL, which this year changed to virgin media. I decided a couple of months ago that the home phone was a waste of money so asked for it to be disconnected, gave my 30days notice and on 15th october it was cut off. At the end of the month I received my final bill for £12.49. I have always paid by direct debit, so filed it away.
last week i went home and discovered a letter from Virgin, dated 12th November, which was a default notice.
I called the company who explained that they had no idea why they didnt take the direct debit. they said that becuase i didnt pay, they had issued a default notice, which was now logged on my credit rating, and that he was suprised i'd not heard from the debt collection agency???
he suggested that they debt collection agency probably weren't interested because it was such a small amount, and agreed that if i paid there and then he would get the default taken off my credit account. I paid, to then be told it takes upto 2 months to come off..
My credit rating was poor a couple of years ago, and i have been working hard to get it better, and am concerned that this will have a lasting effect? and does it really take that long to come off??
Thanks for all your help
Becky
