Can you not have them sent to home?

I order all my prescriptions online which are sent to my nominated surgery. If however if I have to go in for an appointment the doctor or nurse always ask if I want that prescription sent electronically or a green one to take away. Should be easy to sort so long as you/doctor remember to ask at the time.

My O.H is prescribed Tramadol, now a controlled drug so unable to send electronically. It was a complete faff having some sent and this one not that I now have all scripts as a hard physical copy.

That a good point my son has a controlled drug (for children) I'm not sure if that would be available electronically, I will have to ask. I've not had a repeat of it yet.

He does have other prescriptions that could be done electronically, he doesn't use many of the controlled one.

Because you're signing up to get your prescriptions electronically and can only nominate one pharmacy.

If you don't tell the doctor BEFORE they start completing the prescription then the default is EPS because that's what you've signed up for.

I should have mentioned that I'm talking about repeat prescriptions in Wales and it's still entirely paper-based as far as I'm aware. A man is employed by the pharmacy to drive round to the different surgeries collecting prescriptions and delivering medication to patients.

I can request a repeat prescription via a website but I can't choose at that time whether to collect it or have it collected by a pharmacy. This seems unnecessarily restrictive.

No I am not using electric prescriptions yet, I am thinking of starting.

This is why I am not using electronic prescriptions as I understood it was all or nothing.

I will try this. If it doesn't work can I swap back to the old system?

You can always drop out of the EPS system (at the moment) . However the intention is to make it the only system available so you will not have a choice then.

Some surgeries can do controlled drugs via electronic prescription, others cannot.

One of mine recently changed to a controlled drug but luckily I can still get it done by EPS.

I use EPS and whenever I'm physically at the GP or Nurse they always ask whether I'd like it by paper or sent to pharmacy.

I recently signed up to the boots online prescription service, they deal with the GP surgery and you can choose which branch you collect from.

I can't say that the system works because I've yet to get the text to say my first script is ready to collect (it's due Wednesday) but it was easy to sign up and use.

I have Tramadol and the prescription is sent to the pharmacy with my other medication, but as a separate item. I assume it is done electronically, I don’t have to collect the script myself.
