BW Legal letter- help

Hi,

this is is my first post so I hope I’m in the correct place,
yesterday I received a letter for a pay day loan I got over 6 years ago from BW Legal, on behalf of money shop at the time I was in a bad place financially and got made redundant, to be honest I forgot all about this loan and I’m sure it was for less that 150 pounds that I borrowed. I have moved address since then and this is the first time I’ve had a letter to my new address regarding this, and I’m really worried as I’ve just managed to start building my credit score.
i can’t even find this account on my clear score credit file.
What is the best way to respond. Any advice would be much appreciated. The letter says letter of claim and lots of costs added if I don’t respond by 27th July and threatening to take me to court.

thank you

Hi and welcome to the forum :)

What does the letter look like?
Is it a Pre Action Protocol letter?
    Is there a questionnaire attached?

Does it look like the letter described in the link below?

You have 30 days to respond to stop a CCJ judgement against you.

You can choose whether to pay in full, pay by instalments or to set out your defence. But you MUST respond within 30 days.

Read the article in detail that I linked to in my last post.

    Ok,

Right forum now, this is a letter of claim as confirmed by willing to learn.

You must follow the instructions on the questionaire, you only have 30 days to submit your responce.

You cannot use statute barred as a defence unfortunatly, as its been less than 6 years since it would have defaulted.
