You can get broadband without a telephone from Virgin and possibly other providers, so that might be worth a look?

Thanks. Just had a quick look and it looks a lot more expensive than what I'm currently paying though as the phone line is included in the £25.

Your partner's income is very low - now the kids are teenagers can this increase to full time hours?

Your grocery bill is high - would your partner or kids (they need to learn sometime) have more time to be able to get the monthly shop in with a lower budget?

Night rate hours should be consecutive as far as I know - this is well worth looking into - from memory at this point in the year ours runs from 01.30 - 08.30 - when we're not in BST it's an hour earlier on each end than that. I do wonder if the water heater was responsible for a lot of your use though. (Edit - just researched EDF and yes, they do say non consecutive don't they in some situations - assuming the circuit is set correctly this should still be OK but probably worth checking.)

Storage heaters certainly shouldn't be getting warm as early as 22.00 - if I were you I'd refer that to your landlord as needing attention. (As a tip-off - likelihood is that any sparky coming in to look will tell the LL that a replacement is needed for anything REALLY ancient, which may do you a favour!) Storage heaters are a massive power drain - particularly the older ones - so really do need to be running on the correct rate to make them cost effective!

On broadband without a phone line - usually is m ore expensive - Martin's guidance is generally to jut unplug the landline phone if you don't want it!

They said well lets yry and sort it now and asked what I could afford and after negotiating them down form £50 a month they agreed on £15 a month until I tell them otherwise.
