Wean off from HTB and still build promised amount of new affordable homes

Options
How can the government wean off HTB and still meet the promised number of new affordable homes?

The HTB ponzi needs new suckers to join the bottom of the pyramid scheme.

HTB 1 was increased so that HTB 2 was 40% interest free loan for longer and a lower deposit

HTB 3 will need to be 50% interest free for 6 years with only a 2.5% deposit

Or the Ponzi that is the UK property market collapses.

Wouldn't it just avoid a lot of bureaucracy and paperwork if they just transferred the HTB funds directly into the bank accounts of the directors of the major builders and developers - because that in reality is where most of the cash has ended up anyway (with a few pence for their shareholders on top)!

If there was any justice the people responsible for the scheme would end up in prison - but of course they were just 'helping first time buyers' by making first time buyer new build properties 20 to 40% more expensive than they were before. Don't you love that sort of government help!

And how much did the Tories get in donations from the property industry..........

    Exactly

The question is now, will there be a help to buy 3?

Or what else will prevent gravity finally kicking in

If you don't want to use it fine, but leave people alone who do what to make something of themselves and who want to buy a home and who are willing to roll their sleeves up in order to do so.

You are never going to get what you wish for because there are just to many aspirational people out there who will do what it takes rather than gamble on a hope, wish and a prayer and of course other peoples misfortune.

You are probably the only one that cares, but why? You are obviously not in a position to buy a house, what are you trying to achieve or hoping for by being one here on this forum board?

Why do some try to take the subject off topic?

    What to distract much Hmmmm?

Anyway back on topic, how can they end Help to bubble and still meet the target of new homes added to the supply?

By building the new homes they keep promising and under-delivering on. Ideally by making them simpler and more affordable - stop with the 3-bed, 3-bathroom, utility room luxury houses and build a series of 2/3 bedroom 1-bathroom simple houses. Maybe more 1-up-1-downs too, but focus on simple accommodation.

Building huge chunks of social housing would go some way to relieving the pressure too.

If you have a scheme to help people buy things then the price of those things will stay high

Exactly, just the same as if you keep giving a crack addict his Charlie then he will remain a junky

Either he dies or he gets weaned off it.

Will the UK be able to be weaned off the help to bubble 2? Either the problem will be extended with help to bubble 3, or there will be the long awaited correction in property.

Far better to get off the crack
