Irresponsible lending complaint
Hello,
i had a payday loan with Speedy Cash Loans and am trying to get them to refund some of it back to me. The issue is that the email goes to some company in United States and automatic reply is send to me saying they can't find my details. So i did send the original email confirmations about every single loan they gave me, but the same automatic email is coming back to me saying that they can't find my details on their database.
Maybe someone else has experienced the same issue as i am at the moment. All i need is the email address, so i can send my complaint through.
Please advise.

It is really an automated reply, or is it their actual reply? It would be odd for them to have it set up as an automated reply.
Try sending a SAR if you believe they have data they've not yet found.0 -

It doesn't look like they're operating in the UK anymore and I'm not sure a US-based company with no involvement in the UK is going to be too bothered about responding to SAR requests.0 -

The deal is generally that they give you money, not the other way round, and then you repay it with interest.
What do you want refunded, and why?0 -
I think he wants some of the interest back, doesn't he?
Anyway, the thing the OP needs to start with is a clear understanding of which company he borrowed money from, and he should be able to find this stated on one of his original credit agreements.
The name "Speedy Cash Loans" may not have been the name of the company - it may simply having been a trading name or "trading style" of another UK-registered company.
The fact that emails that previously came from the company now link to a US company may not mean much at all, and may not indicate any link with the original company. If, for example, the original UK company was wound up, the domain name that they used may have been sold as part of the process of getting cash for the company's assets.
Of course if that's what has happened then he's not very likely to get very far, as I doubt he will get a "refund" from a company that no longer exists...0 -

No, it's a defunct company that did operate in the UK at one point. There was a branch about 8 miles from me.
The website goes back to the parent company that owns SpeedyLoans, Curo.com
I doubt they care given they've ditched the UK market and only do US and CA now.0 -
I assume the thread is dead as the OP hasn't been back since the first post, anywahoo....
1. how is it people can enter into a contract of any kind without knowing who it is they are dealing with?
2. why do people think they can change the terms of a deal during or after the agreement?
As Kentish Dave says, the deal is you borrow the money, you pay it back with interest. If you don't like that idea or don't like the terms then don't take the money in the first place - it really isn't that complicated, is it?The views expressed here are my own. I am not a Solicitor nor am I affiliated with any of the parties I mention. If you disagree with any of my comments please say in whatever way feels most natural to you. Yep, the vast majority of these threads should be titled "Irresponsible borrowing" rather than lending.0 -
I would give myself a stiff talking to about irresponsible borrowing.0

Why are so many of you, so quick to judge? The loan may have satisfied the definition of 'irresponsible lending'. But since the OP hasn't come back, we don't know.
For your information, the ICO defines Pay day loans (consumer only) as
"A small, short-term loan that is expected to be repaid on the borrower’s next pay day". Who knows, but maybe this loan was granted to the OP 'irresponsibly' over a longer duration, or as a 'top-up'...I work within the voluntary sector, supporting vulnerable people to rebuild their lives.
I love my job0
