Halifax Mortgage- Repayment of Credit Cards Query

Hi all,

We had a condition of paying the balance on our credit cards which was submitted with the application with our mortgage back in April, the total was about £2.5K for the two. We payed both balances in full at the end of April and have just used our CCs since for the additional security for purchases for the house, paying in full when the monthly statement arrives.

Completion is Thursday, we made our June statement payments yesterday so both balances at zero. We are hiring a van on Thursday for moving who require deposit on CC and we plan to buy some furniture from Ikea that same day on the CC while having use of the van. Plan is to pay off in full as per the July statement. Is this acceptable practice for the mortgage company? We aren't planning to carry balances.

Thanks in advance. I've been suffering a lot of aniexty over this house move as it is so important to my husband and I. I am second guessing myself over everything!

If they do a final credit check then the balance will be whatever was last reported to the CRA and not your current nil balance.

It's likely they will ask for evidence of cleared balances.

Surely when it takes 4-6 weeks for lenders to update credit reports!

I've had exactly the same with Halifax mortgages, make sure your balance is nil with credit reference agencies and that you can show them the balance via app, etc.
