Application gone to "senior underwriter"

I heard from my broker that my full mortgage application had been successfully underwritten and they don't have any further questions. But I heard yesterday my application had now gone to "senior underwriters" for further checking. I panicked! But my broker came back today and said it was just to ensure the underwriter had done the underwriting properly.

I'm still a bit concerned. Should I be?

    Not really.

It can go to a senior underwriter if your underwriter is new/trainee or if your underwriter does not have a high enough mandate for what is needed or it may just be like an audit on the broker or even your case.

If the broker has done their job properly then everything will be fine. Even if they have not done their job properly but your broker has it should still be fine and even if they have both made mistakes, it does not mean you will not get your mortgage, it may just mean more questions.

A 'senior underwriter' is generally the one that does not write with a crayon.

I would not worry about it.
