Help with Link entry on credit report

Options
Barclaycard didnt default my account before it sold to Link in 2015. Contacted Barclaycard who acknowledged and removed entry entirely from my credit file and said it would write to Link to do the same.
Link haven't
As I was hoping to make a F&F offer this will screw up my credit report for a further 6 years?
Should I write to Link with a copy of the Barclaycard letter asking them to remove ? Any thing I should include as ammunition.
Barclaycard did mention something about being impacted for more than 6 years, but I cant find anything to support this.
Any advice gratefully received

The account should be defaulted a couple of months after you stop making the correct payments. It will affect your credit file for 6 years so the earlier it defaults the better.

Why would Link remove an owed debt from the file before the 6 years is up? If Barclaycard had sold the debt I cant see why they would get involved in what the new owners did as it appears they have made a decision as what to do with regards to their ownership.

You say BC have removed the entry, but Link haven't - but that suggests you had two entries for the same debt, which is not the norm.

To explain - I had BC debts which admittedly were defaulted, but when they sold the debt on to Link - the entry on the CRAs simply showed Link as the 'owner' keeping all the original credit file entries that were associated with the original BC debt.

With that said - your account should have been defaulted in 2015 so you need to pursue that (and you'll have to go back to BC on that one methinks). A 2015 default will remain on your file for 6 years, so won't fall off until 2021, so Link are highly unlikely to remove it any sooner.

I'm not sure why BC would say anything to the contrary - but what you need to do is pursue a backdated default.
