Hi all,
All 4 dca have confirmed the debt is unenforceable at this time but reminded me that the debt is still owed, can be sold on etc..
I have a lump sum to offer across to close them down for good. No longer on credit report.
Does anyone have any advice re the wording, do you refer to the fact the debt is unenforceable?
Im dealing with, Idem, Cabot& PRA.
Many thanks
Mrs D

Hi,
Yes it does no harm to mention that fact to them.
National Debtline have a template letter, for just this purpose.
It can be downloaded from their website.
You must have settlement agreed in writing, and also make sure that what you offer will settle the account for good, and that neither the creditor (nor their agents) will chase the remaining balance.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. Thank you, is there a specific one that mentions unenforceable or should I use the template but maybe add, thank you for your letter acknowledging the debt in currently unenforceable etc, etc..:eek: Money is the route of all evil, save yourselves and send yours to me :rotfl::j:rotfl:0

Just tweak the template to reflect your circumstances, referring to the fact that the debt has been deemed unenforceable. Hopefully you'll get a good discount accepted - but be prepared to haggle.
Ours with the PRA are unenforceable and they initially rejected F&Fs - but are now (some 18 months or so on) offering me discounts (rather than me offering F&Fs).0
