QuickQuid loan wiped off?

Hi all. My first post here. :j

Back in 2017 I got myself into a bit of a money problem with payday lender QuickQuid.

I have been paying this off on a £110 a month payment arrangement for a while. When I had 3 payments left to make, my friend recommended I make a complaint regarding irresponsible lending - because once I had paid the original loans off in full, I would take out an even larger loan amount just to tie myself over until next payday. I know this is my fault for taking out the extra loans, but at the time I didn't know what else to do and QuickQuid just kept offering me more and more money. Each loan I took out with them was larger than the last.

I made an irresponsible lending complaint to them, which was obviously rejected. QuickQuid advised me that I can pass the complaint on to the Financial Ombudsman Service, so I did. Within this time I had made 2 more payments to QuickQuid so now I only have one payment of £110 left to make to clear my balance.

Once my complaint was passed onto the Ombudsman, QuickQuid put my account on hold and wouldn't allow me to make any more payments until the complaint had been resolved. 7 months down the line, I still haven't had a final response from the Ombudsman service so have still been unable to pay the remaining £110.

Whilst waiting for a response from the Ombudsman, I received the below email from QuickQuid:

Thank you for your recent payment to QuickQuid. Your account is now considered paid in full*. You may continue to receive mailed notices from QuickQuid about your balance over the next several days. Please disregard these as they were sent before your final payment was received.

I never made a payment, so would they have written the debt off? To this day I still haven't had a response from the Ombudsman so I'm not sure what's happened.

Has this happened to anyone else?

EDIT: I have just received the below email from the Financial Ombudsman Service:

We have seen recently that Casheuronet (QuickQuid) are paying off outstanding loans. This doesn’t mean we have changed the outcome on your complaint and it doesn’t mean that Casheuronet are now upholding your complaint. You don’t need to do anything at this stage or contact the business. We will be looking into how this affects the outcome (if at all) in due course and we will keep you updated.

Casheuronet have told us that they will no longer be accepting payments where a complaint hasn’t been resolved. This is something we are looking into but unfortunately we don’t have any definitive timescales as to when this will be resolved. I have moved your complaint to the appropriate team that are looking into situations such as yours and someone should be in touch with you soon with an update.

    Hiya. Thanks for the response.

I've just contacted QuickQuid and they told me the following:

At this time I would have to advise you to contact your adjudicator for an update on the account.
You will receive the most accurate information and advise from your adjudicator.

Not sure what to do from here as my adjudicator can't give me any more information...

Do I just leave it and wait?

My reaction would be to wait for further communication from the Ombudsman.
