Hi All,
does anyone know if there is a price comparison site for dental work? I need a root canal and crown. I'm based in the northwest it looks like it will be the best part of £1000:00

You should never chose your dental work on the basis of cost.
Some variables on cost will be where the surgery is based , some on the materials used , some on complexity of work.
Costs on the NHS will vary from £190 to £270 depending where in the U.K. you are and if the root treatment can be done in general practice, specialist root treatment is not , generally , available on the NHS.
Privately a root treatment will cost £400 to £600 plus depending on complexity . A crown could then be done on the NHS £190 to £270 or privately £300 to £1000 plus .
Price comparisons in dentistry are meaningless because there is enormous variability in treatment eg a crown can be made of a myriad of materials , it can be customised by using a huge number of tints all of which add to the laboratory cost.
Chose a dentist to do this work who has been recommended , you trust above chosing on price.0 -
If you buy anything on price, you get a product that competes on price.
A product that competes on price is always looking to cut its costs.
For some things, that's fine.
For your teeth? Well - it's up to you.How to find a dentist.
1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.0
