Given how empty Boots are whenever I pop in, their plastic waste should be negligible now.0

It takes almost four times as much energy to manufacture a paper bag as it does a plastic bag, they are more expensive to transport and have less re-use potential, and they produce methane if dumped in landfill.
If you care about the environment then you shouldn't use either.0
