How can I get referred to a hospital dentist? I need 2 wisdom teeth extracting but cannot stomach the idea of needles in my mouth and so cannot have treatment at my NHS dentist.

If you meet the criteria for wisdom tooth removal your own dentist can do a referral for you to community dentists who are skilled and have the facilities to treat patients with phobias etc
The waiting list is likely to be considerable, over a year in my area. .0 -
Your dentist would refer you if you asked.
No-one wants to do something for a patient that they're not happy to have done.
Edit - crossed with Brook! How to find a dentist.
1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.0
