Adding someone to your mortgage

I am currently with HSBC and it is a sole mortgage. This has always been the case as my wife never really earned enough to warrant adding her to the applications plus she had previous credit strikes to her name.
Things have changed and we would like to add her to the mortgage/deeds etc.
Can this be done whilst tied into a fixed term deal (expires 2021)?
Would there likely be a charge or solicitor requirement?
Asking on here before calling HSBC as I would like some knowledge before being sold down an avenue I don't particularly need or want.
