Waiting on tax overview for mortgage

Hi all,

I am a first time buyer who has secured an AIP with Clydesdale for our first mortgage. I am self employed so the mortgage is subject to me providing a SA302 and tax year overview for the previous year (I only have one year accounts which Clydesdale are aware of).

I submitted my tax return last Sunday, the SA302 was available straight away but to this date the tax year overview hasn’t updated. I have phoned HMRC twice and they say the return has been received but needs to be ‘manually processed’, however they both said normally the year overview should be available straight away.

It is slightly stressful as I am reluctant to proceed anymore with the mortgage and house purchase until I have the tax year overview to verify my income. Has anyone else been in this situation where they have had to wait for the overview to update, and if so how long generally does it take?

Many thanks,

Michael

  • When re-checking the Tax Year Overview page, are you selecting the appropriate year in the dropdown list and then pressing go/show?

Sounds simple, but I've lost count of the number sent in that are the wrong year because the accountant/customer hasn't done this! E.g. we ask for 2017 and we get 2019 figures because the customer hasn't realised.

I'd have thought it would be instant, as they are saying, that's why I'm just wanting to check!

I’ve found there is generally a couple of days delay between submission & getting your tax overview.

Check again tomorrow and get back on the phone to HMRC id say
  • Got through this morning and explained the situation, they have marked it as urgent when I told them it was needed for the mortgage. Looks like it has
got ‘stuck’ during the processing. Fingers crossed this sorts itself out fairly quickly. Will probably be making a daily phone call to HMRC until it is sorted
