This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Good morning all
Holly, hugs. I'm so sorry to hear your news, hope you are home soon.
csarina hope ss give you the help you need very soon, take care of yourself.
dp1 pleased your daughter is getting help with meals and parking, a little less to worry about. Hope they can find out soon what the problem is with dgd.
taff you are in my thoughts
Poppy how are you ?
Managed to get bedding washed and line dried yesterday. Have started to sort the freezers into some sort of order but they are so full. Need space as the berries in the garden are ripening so quickly, we can't eat them all so need to freeze some. meals for the next week or two will need to be from the freezer so very little spending.

Good morning and thank you for starting today's thread silver-oldie.
dp1 I hope that the doctors are able to help your little granddaughter, what a worrying time for you all.
Holly, although I was sad to read your news, you are, I think, right to have accepted a voluntary admission and I hope that you'll be able to get the treatment and support that you need.
Deleted_User, hoping that you can access support for your DH and ~taff thinking of you and your dad.
I will have left people out, I'm sorry.
I'm up, had tea and toast, put out crumbs and birdseed and fat pigeon has been joined by an equally podgy friend. Looks like they have scoffed the lot.
My dear friend has been travelling in the far east for 3 months but is back now and coming over to see me (and house) this morning. The only other thing I HAVE to do today is cook and I'm trying to think what to do. We tend not to want a Sunday roast in summer, well OH doesn't, and DS requires something with vast quantities of meat. I don't really want to make something that I don't like. I'm sure to find some inspiration later.
I did all the washing yesterday, everything is dry and put away, a treat as it has been taking ages to get stuff dry recently. My evening yesterday was made totally delightful by OH dropping a pan with oil in it, lovely floor cleaning, O lucky me. I did not thump him, I restrained myself.
I am going to read for a bit now, before people get up and start making noise.
Hope everyone has as good a day as possible.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Morning folks. Thanks SO. The calm before the storm here - lovely sunny start and feels really warm again - sadly tonight the rain will be back!
HOLLY I was so sorry to read you are back in hospital again but, I agree, you were right to be admitted as a voluntary patient. I hope this new hospital has more insight into helping you with your problems.
The health problems on here are escalating once again it seems. ((HUGS)) for all who are struggling with them - be it themselves or a loved one.
Today it is youngest DGD's 1st Communion. I am looking forward to attending the service for that but, sadly, dreading the big after party that DD has organised to celebrate the event. I am still not coping well with big gatherings and socialising. Well I never have been come to that but, since losing Bob by my side, I am much worse. I don't think I will stay long but will see how I feel.
Have a good day all. Thinking of all the poorlies and carers. Take care xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Good morning everybody.
Yesterday was very hot and muggy, I enjoyed my walk round the park in the afternoon and did more than before. Mysteriously, the little plaques with exercises on has completely vanished. Seems very strange as they were there last week when I went round.
Holly – sorry to hear you're back in hospital although I think you're wise to take the treatment is offered rather than have a forced upon you. I hope it all turns out well for you there and you get some respite from your worries.
TA - what a lovely day for you, I hope you manage to get lots of pleasure from it before leaving the party. I don't like crowds either so can truly understand your worries.
DM only managed three hours in the sitting room with a crossword puzzle. In that time they managed to complete the small one in the review section leaving the jumbo for the rest of the week. After that she only ate a tiny amount of soup followed by five raspberries with some crème fraîche on top. Not much at all.
Today could be 'slobby Sunday' though I am slobbing around too much these days I need to get out again and do some walking. Thunder and lightning is forecast so I need to time it properly.
My thoughts are with all those who are struggling, and hope that everybody has a very happy Sunday.0 -
Good morning, it's grey and mild here, the forecast is not good though.
Holly I'm sorry to hear you're back in hospital, hope it won't be for long. You were wise to go voluntarily though.
DP1, it's a setback for that little baby, I do hope she picks up soon.
TA, it's understandable that you are still fragile - I'm sure family and friends will realise that you can't always manage large occasions. Hope it goes well though.
Gers, uou're out of your own home, and own routines. Hope you manage a walk, it'll lift your spirits. Well, it does for me.
I got my washing dry and put away as well AOD, so much better isn't it.
Silver, good to hear you'll be saving a bit by living out of the freezer.
Taff, sorry to hear about your Dad. What a worry for you.
Not much happening here today, might get out for a walk, we'll see.
Thinking of the sad and poorly, and their carers.
take care folks xx0 -
Morning All
Sorry to hear you're in hospital Holly, hope you get the treatment you need and get back to your own home.
Gers, shame the little exercise notices have gone, I can just see you crossing the monkey bars!
Hope you enjoy your day TA, just go for as long as you're comfortable.
I had a very productive Saturday - Went shopping, wrapped presents for the dinner ladies, emptied and defrosted the freezer, put down weed killer on the driveway, cut the hedge, strimmed and cut the grass and did 6 loads of washing. Had a slight meltdown to myself when I was going to bed and it needed making! I was shattered and went to bed at 9!
This morning I've thrown out all the open sauces from the fridge and given that a clean. Also taken off all the cushion covers and put them through the wash - can you tell the weather is good?
Off to meet DD for lunch in Glasgow later, the only thing I have to do is get a prescription, my Epipens have gone out of date so need new ones.
Hope you all have a good Sunday, take care. XX0 -
Morning all
Looks like its going to be another nice day here, I have stripped the beds and got them in the wash and will hang it out for a while.
Got to pack the ebay parcels this morning and then list another couple of items we are doing quite well atm and most of our holiday has been funded by selling on ebay.
BBQ again tonight we have half of the pork fillet and come chicken left so we will do some chicken kebabs and the pork and salads and some kind of potato, I do get a bit fed up with new potatoes so will think of something else.
We will pack up a picnic and take the pup for a long walk today, I think DD is coming as her OH is working, there is a place we go to with a waterfall and a little weir which the pup loves as she gets to splash around and then roll in the mud !!
Holly sorry to hear you are in hospital again but I hope they can help you and you soon get home xx
TA have a great day and Im sure no one will mind if you slip away xx
Have good days all xx0 -
Morning all. Hopefully, I'll manage to have a more productive day today than I did yesterday. I went out with my friend on Friday night, had a few drinks, dinner, and a lovely catch up, but woke up on the Saturday morning with a really bad head and neck ache. I managed to do the food shop yesterday, but was struggling even to read the paper. Ended up having a nap in the afternoon, and then an early night. Not sure whether that was down to the booze, if I slept funny, or something else, (getting back into being at work perhaps?) but even this morning, I'm still not feeling great, though am feeling better than I did. Hopefully a shower will help perk me up.
The plan is to try and blitz the house a bit today, certainly keeping on top of the clothes washing, and cleaning the bathroom.
(Plus buying and reading the Sunday paper)
Have a lovely Sunday everyone.0 -

Thanks for the thread SO and hugs to all those in need especially Holly.
Cloudy here today but still warm, we've had breakfast and will take Beano out for his second walk in a minute.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.0 -
Morning all
Good days and bad days for me. Need to get some energy together as daughter and new son in law are visiting and bringing her three girls and his 2 sons!! my cottage is not big so hoping the weather stays fine so there can be a bit of outside time. They are bringing food with them and I bought a chocolate cake at our village fete yesterday.
TA I know exactly what you mean about big family gatherings - it seems to emphasise the 'aloneness' even though everyone is very kind.0
