Help with a new bank account

I need to get away from Lloyds.

What single accounts would you reccomend bearing in mind my credit rating is very poor??

I also need to set up a joint account of some sorts. Bascially just a holding account for mortage/bills etc. Needs on-line access and be able to set DDs and SOs.

Thanks

If it's a basic account with no credit checks then there is an official list on page 4 of:

We all need to get away from Lousy LLoyds!!! I found the Co op to be most helpful for a basic bank account. with my very poor credit rating I got turned down for accounts at other places. Co op is also an ethical bank. good luck
  • do co-op provide joint accounts too??

I would have thought so but I just went for a basic account as with a bad credit history it was all I could get. To be honest it's been very helpful as I cant have an overdraft or even a cheque book but it does have an electron visa debit card.
  • Probably going to go with Nationwide as its very local to me. I didn't even know such a thing as Co-Operative bank existed.

Nationwide do single and joint accounts. No overdraft but that suits me fine.

Hi I would recomend co-op too they have a great online facility.
Also you can pay in and withdraw from your local post office which is handy, if you pay in cash at the po its avaliable straight away.

if you have a poor credit rating and your partner has a good one then getting a joint account is a very bad idea as their credit rating will be adversely affected as you will both be financial linked together
