O/S Daily Friday 21 June 2019
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need one, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Now bright and sunny - but temperature dropped over night, but today is forecast as dry and sunny - we'll see.
DH and DS1 getting ready for work, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge - ran out of my normal stuff so that's just been added to the shopping list. DS2 settled and ok.
Dinner last night was egg, bacon, sausage, black pudding, hash browns, mushrooms and beans - all eaten and enjoyed, tonight I'm not sure but it'll be something quick and easy - possibly something with chips for the menfolk and mushroom omelette and salad for me.
Yesterday I was quite productive, I still have some things to get done, but it's all doable - first thing I'll do the food shopping then visit the GPO and I have a bit of ironing to do, I got a big line of washing nearly dry - it only need 20 mins in TD just to completely dry it but it then didn't need ironing. I have my work shirts to do but not much else. I stripped our bed, re-made with another set of bed linen then got the bed linen line dried, it needs airing though. I also got some admin jobs done too. I did feel a bit like I didn't stop all day and didn't achieve much but now I look back it wasn't too bad and I did do some housework and kept going with the washing - there was only a few bits left that wasn't enough to make up a load until I had the work clothes from yesterday, those have made up a load and are now in the WM. I will endeavour to get get those line dried.
Keep safe and well x

Good morning, it's sunny here, hope it continues. Thanks NMLC for starting off
I didn't get round to posting yesterday, the day slipped away from me.
i was busy all day with washing, general tidying, and a bit of shopping. Dh vacuumed, tided the shed, and took some stuff to the chazzer.
Sorry to hear you can't get a wetroom installed Dumpling, are there any agencies that can help you?
I'm going to go to the Metrocentre today. not for anything in particular though. There are a few things I want to look at, and if I see anything that's suitable for a friend's birthday, I'll snap it up. She's difficult to buy for. It's not her birthday tlll mid September so I've got time.
Visiting a friend tonight, and that's it really
Hope everyone has a good day
Take care folks xx0 -
Morning folks and thanks NMLC. A glorious start and sun forecast all day. In fact I don't think we have rain forecast now until Monday!
Yesterday's meal for DB's 70th was lovely. Just close family but the food was enjoyed by all. Lovely small country pub which, because of its good reputation, was quite busy. Good job he had booked.
Today won't be such a pleasant day. I have a dreaded doctor's appointment about my latest blood results. Now what have they found. Yet another ailment? I am hoping there might be time to have a chat re my aching legs too but the usual rule of one appointment = one problem will probably apply! I should have asked them to make it a double appointment I suppose. Oh well.
The Friday Tidy will have to wait until I get back - if I CBA starting by then. I feel weary already before the day gets going. Like others on here have said, how can I be so tired and yet not be able to sleep?
After 3 days of eating out I shall have to make myself something to eat today! I might get some fish out to defrost and just do that with some salad and baby potatoes. Easy enough.
Have a good day all and ((HUGS)) for all the poorlies, sad, worried or lonely. Take care all xx ps nice to see you NAN. Hope dad goes on ok. Also DH at his appt."If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Morning All
It's dry at the moment but has been raining overnight, certainly no summer weather here. We are, apparently, to get a dry weekend which would be good, the washing may be able to dry outside for a change.
The final school trip was yesterday and it went really well, I can relax a little now. We have a fun day today with a bouncy castle - guess where I'll be!
Sorry to hear you can't have your house adapted dumpling, as others have suggested, try some the agencies for advice.
Gers - you are amazing.
Sounds like you've had a busy week eating out TA, how's the garden?
Happy Friday! Take care. XX0 -
Morning all
Nice and bright here for a change and its meant to be nice for most of next week , I do hope so !!
Off to work today but I have a long meeting with my boss re budgets etc which I think will take a good few hours.
I have cancelled my Friday tidier today as OH is not well, he has the tummy bug that I had during the week so we will have to have a clean through tomorrow.
Chicken for dinner tonight I might make a satay sauce up and do that with rice and peas.
Ham and egg salad for lunch today and overnight oats for breakfast.
Nan and TA I hope the appointments go well xx
Have good days all xx0 -
Good morning all
Thank you for starting us off nmlc
Lovely and sunny start to the day. I have plans to do so many jobs, don't think I'll get half of them done. Garden, housework, laundry where to start, maybe a cuppa.
Freezers are in a muddle, can't find anything. Need to get them sorted as the garden is starting to give so much fruit, there are strawberries and currants waiting to be picked.
Thoughts are with all those finding life difficult at the moment. If you walk at night no-one will see you cry.0 -
Morning all
Thanks for the thread nmlc and hugs to all those in need.
Beano has had a walk, Steve has a cuppa in bed and I have eggs boiling on the job ready to make sandwiches for lunch.
We didn't move yesterday as planned, we went to aldi shopping and I spent some time with DD1.
She treated me to lunch at Saddleback Farm Shop, Beano wasn't too sure about the free range chickens in the garden.
Hopefully we can move today.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.0 -
Good morning and thank you for starting us off nmlc.
The sun is shining and the sky is blue, beautiful!
Yesterday I washed a comforter type thing from our bed, hoping not to need it until autumn. It dried on the line but needed airing - has been on the rack overnight and now I've put it back on the line.
I've fed the rat, pigeon, squirrels and assorted wildlife, the small birds might get a crumb. I made some scones last night and there were a few scraps of pastry over so those went out and got eaten in moments.
I have a loaf in the bread machine, washing can be done a bit later as I'd have to disturb OH ZERO fetch ours. DS has not given me his but I did a huge load of his washing earlier this week so hopefully he should have enough for a few days.
Friday Tidy will be minimal today, I did a lot as I went along this week and there's just dusting, sweeping and bathroom really.
OL I use bleach in the loos but tend not to use it in the rest of the house, it makes me sneeze and I dislike the smell though I know lots of people love it. I do like the loos to be clean though but I think I must associate the smell of bleach with sneezing my head off. There are quite a few household products that provoke the same reaction and I sneeze in the sun, perhaps my sneezer is faulty.
Nan, sorry to hear about your dad's accidents and hope his bruises fade quickly.
Gers, thinking of you and your mum.
I need more tea, so will wish everyone a good day.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Good morning everyone and happy Friday!
My Thursday night turned out to be my usual Thursday night. Work > more work > gym > call with my gran > chill for an hour. She's recently been given my mums old iphone to use as her mobile and she's really not very in tune with technology like that. She was trying to explain a problem she had with it but a blend not being able to see the phone myself and her description of it meant I couldn't help. My mum will try and sort it for her. Not that she's any better.
I tried a new recipe last night; jerk potato and pineapple hash. I was very pleased with it. It does sound a bit strange but it was really quite nice and easy to make too. LO for tonighs Dinner
A busy day today in work, got 2 interviews plus a load of other things on my to-do list. My personal to-do list is much more lengthy so I'm looking forward to the weekend to get much of it done.
No spend yesterday takes me to 10 NSD's so far.
meanmarie - Congratulations on DD getting the house. Woohoo!
TA - My gran was told to come in and see the doc to discuss the results of her blood test. Next appointment was a week later so like you, we all thought it must be bad news and spent the 7 days worrying to be told they bloods were fine but was slightly low on iron. Couldn't have told us that on the phone? Try not to worry.
AoD - Very productive of you0 -
Morning all.
The longest day already without much sunshine behind us, the days will start drawing in now.
I'm going out later with a friend to look at the Govan Stones - huge hog-back coffins of ancient rulers of Strathclyde. There may be a quick lunch afterwards though it all depends, as usual. :j
Thoughts to all those struggling, and a very happy Friday to everyone.0 -
Good Morning chums ,one of the benefits of getting up early to take my DGS to work at 6.30 is I get a great early start to the day and seem to get so much more done So far today I have got a wash on the line (I put it on first thing, and by the time I get back from delivering DGS Henry to work it was ready to go out ) breakfast over with by 7.30 and sitting room hoovered and tidied. Just having a quick cuppa before I go and pick DGSJack up and drop him off at his holiday job then a bit of me time as its history this morning and we are doing the real Von Trapp family
so coffee and HM cake at our History class.Home for lunch then go to DDs and let the dogs out and probably feed youngest DGS as he finishes his work experience this afternoon, then back to DGS Henry's works to pick him up and take him home . If son-in-law gets home early I will hopefully be home by 5 and then its a bit of ironing so I can have the weekend free to relax and enjoy the sunshine
Hope everyone has a good weekend and the sun shines down on you all, Happy birthdays to thos e celebrating and <<hugs>> for those who are not feeling well.
Take care everyone
JackieO xx0
