I did a quick googling on annuity terms, and conditions and here is one of the examples.
If:
a. the constituents of the Retail Prices Index are materially changed;
or
b. the Retail Prices Index is discontinued.
Legal & General may (to the extent permitted by law) increase
index-linked benefits by reference to:
(i) the index used to measure the increase in respect of issues
of UK government index-linked gilts; or
(ii) such other index as Legal & General considers appropriate
As xylophone rightly pointed out, it is depending on what the terms and conditions are saying? Besides, do you not have an IFA to ask about this? You are paying your adviser to answer your questions after all.0
