Question about surveys

Hi all.
Were going for a new build and have started the process, valuation fees just taken today. The build will complete in 4-5 months. Question is if we instruct a homebuyer survey to be done once built and before completion can we still haggle on the price or get free upgrades? Or will this be too late?
Thanks.

You want a snagging survey on a new build, not a homebuyers report.
Some developers wont let you have the survery done before completion, check with your developer.
You're unlikely to get money off and your unlikely to get any upgrades as the house would already be built and finished by the time the survey takes place.
Your covered by the NHBC for structural issues and I'd suggest you check the property yourself for visual quality and save yourself a few £££.0 -
The time to haggle is before you exchange contracts and even reserve. We did this managed to get flooring, turf, dishwasher, fridge/freezer and outside light for free. The house was about 50% complete when we did this though. It all depends on how well the development is selling and if they need to get stuff sold.
You can pay for a snagging survey but there a good checklists online and if you've got an eye for detail and know what's acceptable/not you can do it yourself (we did).0
