ReAssure pension

Hi all, I started a pension about 20 years ago, I think it was with HSBC but over the years it seems to have been changed to ReAssure. I haven't contributed for about 10 years. I received a yearly review recently and I have about £35k in there and been charged £346.08 over the year.

I have had a workplace pension with Aviva for 2 years and only have about £2k in there, I and my company contribute monthly. I don't know what their charges are.

Any thoughts about what I should do? Could I transfer the ReAssure pension to the Aviva pension?

I'm 44 and not sure of plans for the future.

Thanks

What happened to your pension provision between ceasing to contribute to the HSBC/Reassure arrangement and starting to contribute to your current workplace pension?

Does the old arrangement have any safeguarded benefits(Guaranteed Annuity Rate for example)?

If so you would need to take advice before a transfer out.

Would Reassure charge for a transfer out?

Check the charges/features of your current scheme.

Would Aviva accept the transfer if you were able to transfer?

Thanks for replying, sorry I can't quote but here are my answers:

"What happened to your pension provision between ceasing to contribute to the HSBC/Reassure arrangement and starting to contribute to your current workplace pension?"

I didn't pay into anything as I had financial difficulties

I don't know, will find out

I had a pension with hsbc before it got transferred to reassure as well. Didn’t seem to be doing that well and I’d seen lots of negative reviews of reassure so I transferred it out to another pension I had that was doing much better. Easy to do, no charges and wasn’t required to get any advice.

We transferred a reassure pension to hl, there were no charges. I think we received a bonus from hl
