How funny! Great minds ...2022 Target - Reduce new mortgage balance after house move - Part 1 (Ported) Starting balance £39,982.12 currently £37,242.19 Part 2 Starting Balance £101,997.88 currently £96,197.38 (as at 19/04/2022)0 -
Good Morning,
Yesterday afternoon was spent photographing and uploading more bits to ebay and shpock - many of the listings are duplicates, as I wanted to get maximum exposure. I passed one item to a family member and one is going to the charity shop (as they hadn't previously sold).
Today will be a low spend day, we need some cereal and bread I will grab these from the local shop on the way to DD1 swimming lesson.

Good Evening!
I'm trying to make the effort to post regularly to get back on track monetarily.
Yesterday I spent £52 on the weekly shop (including some cleaning/toiletries). All meals have been planned, so I don't foresee the need to get anything else before next Monday.
Today was an NSD, all activities were free/done at home.
Tomorrow, I will be passing an M&S food store, so I will pop in and see whether they have any yellow sticker items that I can freeze for next weeks meals - all to be paid for with the £10 vouchers I have from survey sites + I need some petrol (using cash in purse). Other than this, free activities only.
Friday, again, free activities planned.
In other news, I made a sale on ebay, it has been posted and the money moved to the current account, so I'm now at £44.27/£1502022 Target - Reduce new mortgage balance after house move - Part 1 (Ported) Starting balance £39,982.12 currently £37,242.19 Part 2 Starting Balance £101,997.88 currently £96,197.38 (as at 19/04/2022)0 -

Hi!
I hope everyone is well x
My day yesterday went as planned in terms of spends ... £10.03 on petrol (cash in purse used) and I spent £12.22 in M&S Food. I used £10 M&S vouchers and £2.22 cash from purse, and managed to get some great YS items (2 small chickens, 6 sausages, 6 fishcakes), plus a few bread rolls that were full price, but needed for lunches. So, we're sorted for protein sources next week, and I will build the meal plan around the YS items.
I've had 2 ebay sales today, which were posted earlier ... I have at least 3 more things to list over the weekend, I will try to look for more.
At the moment we are in the overdraft by £79.62, this does not count the money already earned/saved. Getting back to £0 will be my task for the week ahead, but I also need to take into account that we will need some food items for next week too.
Positives for today
- DD1 completed her 10m swimming badge, I covered the cost of the certificate and badge (£2.40) with part of the money made from this mornings ebay sales
- Took both DD's to a free activity which entertained them for an hour before lunch.
-Baked cakes with DD's using things we already had in the cupboards.
- Received a refund of £5
-OH has put his name forward for free entry to a local attraction that his company sponsors/donates to. That may give us a free day out in before the summer holidays end. Fingers crossed (not sure how many others/if any others have put their names forward, as there's a limited amount).2022 Target - Reduce new mortgage balance after house move - Part 1 (Ported) Starting balance £39,982.12 currently £37,242.19 Part 2 Starting Balance £101,997.88 currently £96,197.38 (as at 19/04/2022)0 -
Good Morning!
We're heading towards our month end (we start our new 'financial month' on Saturday) and to be honest, this month has been shocking. At the moment, we'll be finishing the budget month of August owing £117.11 to our overdraft.
This week will be full of NSD's, the only planned spend will be Friday when a Direct Debit is due to go out.
Last week was a little frustrating, as I had multiple watchers on some ebay items, but then they never sold, we had a couple of silly offers for things and I've got a couple of payments for work done/surveys completed that are missing.
Instead of getting bogged down with stuff, I decided to be proactive;
- I emailed the 3 companies and chased missing mystery shop/survey/work payments.
- I have relisted unsold items on ebay.
- Meal planned and have everything we need to achieve those meals.
- Set the budget for September, and have a target to earn/save enough to get us back to £0 on the overdraft.2022 Target - Reduce new mortgage balance after house move - Part 1 (Ported) Starting balance £39,982.12 currently £37,242.19 Part 2 Starting Balance £101,997.88 currently £96,197.38 (as at 19/04/2022)0 -
Good Evening!
NSD today! :j
I spent some time this morning doing the banking (as we've got the wedding final balances due now, so I need to keep on top of that budget/payments). I noticed when I was going through the internet banking that I had been overcharged for DD1 swimming badge - they took £10.40 instead of £2.40
I've been into the swimming baths and have spoken to someone, but as usual, I have to jump through some public sector hoops to get £8 back ... I will jump through those hoops
We've walked everywhere today to reduce petrol usage and I have booked a bowling session to use up the rest of the free bowling prize I won a month or so ago :T
OH did manage to get the free tickets through work :T, so we'll book those to be used in the next couple of weeks.
I've also had a bid on one of my ebay relists from last week, so I'm pleased with that.
I kind of feel like things are moving in a good direction, next month's budget has little room for maneuver, but the essentials are covered, so that's positive. I just need to remain disciplined2022 Target - Reduce new mortgage balance after house move - Part 1 (Ported) Starting balance £39,982.12 currently £37,242.19 Part 2 Starting Balance £101,997.88 currently £96,197.38 (as at 19/04/2022)0 -
Good Evening!
I hope everyone is well.
Today started a new budget month in our house, and I still have the overdraft hangover from last month that I need to sort.
I have crunched the numbers and the sum I need to earn/save/win is £124.34 [this includes the purchase of a new hairdryer, although I did offset £10 with Amazon vouchers].
So in order to step up to this months challenge, I have;
- Used cashback apps to get some free/reduced food for the kiddies (3 x Chocolate yoghurt lollies that were £1 cashback per pack and on offer for £1 in A$da, making them free and some yoghurt drink things that were effectively half price after cashback).
- Used 2 manufacturer coupons to get laundry stuff for £1.50 (A pack of Bold I bought last month had £4 worth of manufacturer coupons on and I used these, combined with store promotions at A$da to get £10 worth of laundry tablets/scent booster for £1.50)
- I then did the weekly shop in Aldi and spent £39.25, but forgot that we are actually out at family events 3 times next week, so we are likely to be able to roll some of the food into the following weeks meal plans
- Had a small ebay sale which will add a few pennies to the pot, but they all add up :T2022 Target - Reduce new mortgage balance after house move - Part 1 (Ported) Starting balance £39,982.12 currently £37,242.19 Part 2 Starting Balance £101,997.88 currently £96,197.38 (as at 19/04/2022)0 -
