This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Awake as well, not that unusual really, often have nights like this.
Social services have not come up with help, so OH is coming home Friday and I am going to sort something privately.0 -
Morning everyone
SO - thanks for starting us off x
Hugs to those that want/need one, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Dull, and cloudy here, damp underfoot but not raining as yet - but it's forecast.
DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 now getting ready for work and I'm showered, dressed and enjoying first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here. DS2 settled and ok.
Dinner last night was disjointed again as DH was a bit late, but we had roast chicken portions, mash, veg, LO yorkshires and gravy, very nice it was too. Tonight we'll be having HM bacon and cheese quiche, side salad, hot new potatoes/jacket potato and HM coleslaw.
Yesterday work was quite quiet, so we'll see how it is today. Just working today then on days' off but working Saturday.
Keep safe and well x

Morning all, been up a while, am making bread in the panny. I have been sleeping a lot better since we ,over, I think because it is so quiet. DS is very scathing about my bread, he sees himself as an ace breadmaker which means that when he is in the mood, every dish, every utensil has to be washed as encrusted with dough and last time I had to scrape it off the dining table too. He would never stoop to using a breadmaker. My mum gave it to me, she couldn't get on with it but no idea why as all I do is bung in ingredients and press a button.
I made a larger, second batch of flapjacks and the tin is empty again.
Rain, rain and more rain. Everything is very green and for that, I'm thankful but I'd like to get a bit more done in the garden.
Yesterday I had a good go at cleaning the outside loo (not exactly outside, it is off the passage betwen the kitchen and the garden outhouse, and the washing machine room which is similar. Dis some washing but had to bring it back in, still airing. Sitting room still infested by boxes and OH insisting we must keep them.
Deleted_User have you contacted Age, used to be Age Concern about provision of support? If I remember correctly, they don't necessarily provide services directly but can signpost. You may well have already done so so please excuse me if I'm speaking out of turn.
I'm not going anywhere today, not unless there is a total change in the weather. I've plenty to do here.I think OH is taking DS somewhere.
Hope everyone has as good a day as possibleI was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Morning folks and thanks for the early start SO. Wish I had a magic wand to wave over the insomniacs.
Yesterday was beautiful, warm and sunny. There's evidence of overnight rain but forecast to take up shortly. Hope so or I will have a soggy gardener here! He really cracked on yesterday and is hopeful of doing the same today.
I am leaving him to it again. I feel a bit guilty but, other than make him cups of tea, there is nothing I can do to help. I am off on my fortnightly bus jaunt. It's a toss up between Ilkley and Skipton. Back to 3 of us again today and none of us is bothered where we go. We just enjoy the day out! Lunch will be enjoyed when we have done enough browsing.
Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for the poorlies, sad, worried or lonely. GERS I hope DM has a better day. I used to make my Bob milk shakes by whizzing the strawberry milk drinks with full fat Cornish ice cream, to add more calories. Don't know if mum is in to that sort of thing. JIL's idea of making lollies is a good one too. Take care all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Morning all
Raining here again but I think we missed most of the bad storms here yesterday they seemed to go East rather than hit us.
Feeling much better today Ive not had any problems since yesterday morning so I think Im safe to return to work today, It will be a nice short week !!
Dinner tonight is some Pork fillet which has very little fat with some new potatoes and veg, diet is going well but thats mainly because ive been unable to eat anything for two days !!
Pup goes for her haircut today so will come home smelling of strawberry shortcake and be all fluffy and smooth !!
Hugs to all in need and those caring for someone xx
Have good days all xx0 -
Morning all
Thanks for the thread SO and hugs to all those in need.
I've not managed to post for a while, life keep as getting in the way.
We've had a lot of rain so t h e dog walking is all falling to me as Steve is a fair weather walker.
Yesterday we had a meeting at work, they would like him to give his notice in so they can employ a replacement. We will discuss the situation today and try to get some advice.
Have a good day everyone.

Good morning all.
It's raining here, but not cold. Yesterday was a lovely warm, breezy day, great for drying the washing.
Sorry to hear SS haven't come up with any help for your DH Csarina. As NMLC said the other day, if they think you can manage they'll let you struggle on.
Sounds as if your house is going to be full on the weekend of the 29th OL.
AOD, you seem to be getting on well with clearing and tidying. Once you've got it sorted, will it be a better house than your previous one?
Hope you have a good day out TA,
SO, I feel for you about the insomnia, I sometimes think what you were saying - how can I be this tired and still not sleep.
Today I'm visiting a friend, then tidying the house, it badly needs it. Dgs was here most of yesterday, then we were out last night, so not much got done. He is at that age where you can not take your eyes off him, and he's a climber as well.
Thinking of Gers and her Mum. Holly, Poppy, and others who are unwell and struggling with life..
Take care folks xx0 -
Morning all,
Organza - Thank you for asking. They did charge me actually. £14 it came to. Before the procedure, the dentist explained that a tooth that has a filling can chip easily, as the filling doesn't stick to the tooth quite as much as it seems. So in short, he was blaming the equipment more than his skills. Anyway, it was a quick and painless procedure and didn't cost too much, so I didn't put up a fight.
Yesterday was work > gym > home. By the time I had my dinner it was 9pm, so I only really felt like I had an hour to myself. Silly me put the washing machine on too late so I had to stay up a little bit later to put it on the clothes horse before I went to bed.
This lateness decided my fate for the gym this morning, or lack of. I'll go to yoga at lunch and potentially after work, although there's talks of going to for something to eat then the movies to watch the Maradona documentary. I can see it far enough if I'm honest. A mix of the expenditure plus these bloody cold sores which have came to say hello with a vengeance. We'll see.
Yesterday was NSD #9
AoD - You're making bread in the what?
RR - You've now put me in the mood for strawberry shortcake and I don't think ever tasted it haha!
Hester - Is there a union he can refer to?0 -
Morning all.
Thanks for the food suggestions for DM. One of the problems is that she'll only eat small amounts. Yesterday I bought her one of her previous favourites - T esco's hot and spicy hot chicken thighs. She played with it for a while and left it. It's all very difficult and, as many know, very distressing. However, these things must go at her own pace and wishes.
The sun is out though showers are promised. Once I've fed (she still her morning porridge, thank goodness) and watered DM I'll go out for my walk. I also want to check out a factory spectacle maker locally which now supplies to retail. It's been recommended as being very cheap and quick as well as offering good quality products. It's very close so not going out of my way. I need some glasses to keep in the car, just in case!
Thoughts to all those having a struggle. Happy Tuesday to all.0
