I have some good news 😁 I have recently trained to teach hypnobirthing and have had contact from someone who would like to do the course with me. That's the second course I now have booked in which means that I can use the Money towards paying back the course. Once the course is paid back then the money I earn doing the course will all go off the mortgage 😊

Had a very quick look at your diary and plan to read all later when kids in bed. Do you know how I can subscribe?
I note that you are with tsb, is it easy to make ops with them? That is who we are changing to.
Tbh I always said 2 children as a maximum but we needed ivf to have our boys and have 2 frozen embryos which I feel as we have been through so much want to try them. If they don't work I doubt we will do another fresh cycle (it's so much money, no guarantee and very stressful).
Yeah if you type in the advanced view, scroll down past the emojis and there should be a drop-down box for thread subscription. 😊
TSB are easy enough now. When we first had the mortgage I couldn't access the online details without setting up a bank account with them (which worked out alright in the end as they had a 5% savings account) They seem to have improved their online systems since then though. I usually ring up to overpay but you can transfer direct from your bank account or pay in branch as well.
Yes, it would seem a shame not to give the embryos a chance. I can't even begin to imagine how stressful that must have been.
Original mortgage total: £140,000.00 (July 2015) Original mortgage end date: June 2040
Mortgage free start date: 16th October 2018 Mortgage total at this point: £132,829.12
Current mortgage total: £54,762.71 Current mortgage end date: June 2032 Daily interest: £7.59 > £2.64

Ahhh thank you so much 😊

I'm looking forward to switching over now. I feel like it will be a nice fresh start.

It wasn't easy but we are incredibly lucky to have our boys 😊

So today we have managed to sell a few bits via fb which has made us £25. Although we are not in a position to op atm this will help us to pay for some shopping and helps to protect the savings.

I appreciate the update is not very exciting but the more I post the more I think about how I am spending my money which can only be a good thing.

I must admit that I am scared I will loose the momentum by the time I can actually op so that's another reason for me posting.

OK so a few positive updates.

I wasn't sure what the redemption amount was for my old mortgage but thought it was 161k. I called them today and will be more like £158,970 so once the extra is paid to me (borrowing 161k from new lender) I will immediately pay back the difference.

I also realised today that during my mat leave as the end part of it is holiday days I have taken that I will start getting paid earlier than I thought so may not have to wait until next year to start overpayments

I have pulled out my life ins paperwork do that hopefully tomorrow I can call them and actually understand what we have. In relation to protection to cover the mortgage I am guessing as I will be making large ops I should review this maybe once a year to make sure I am not over covered or would people do this more frequently. The op will be between 1000 and 1350 pm.

I try and check out the boards most days even if I don't post. It keeps me motivated and helps me remain enthusiastic about making overpayments and staying on task when it still seems like there's so long to go!

Hi, I’m a single mum to a six year old. I decide to get rid of my mortgage while the boy is cheap to run and also he’s grow up with experiences rather than things so he’s never known any difference. I keep my motivation up by imagining what I will be able to do with all the extra cash each month, including going really part in work, although at the moment considering going back full time to help getting rid of my mortgage. I’ve also become a serial budgeter, especially with food plans. I have a range of really cheap meals that will freeze well and come out that last week before pay day. So far I’m not quite a quarter of the way through my mortgage term but I’m already nearly a quarter of a way through the balance. A tip I’ve got from these boards is to work out your daily interest each month and a) realising just how much you hand over each day to the bank and b) how it’s reducing all the time meaning more of your money is working for you not them.

    Good luck :T

    Thank you.

    Sorry for the delay

You sound like you are doing fantastic. Are you able to share details of your freezer meals. I really do need to get more organised.

I will definitely look at my daily interest amount. :)
