Personally, I consider it to be unreasonable if you are being put in a position where you need to charge expenses to a personal credit card, if the timing means that you need to pay your credit card company before the employer has paid you.

The principle is that you shouldn't be out of pocket.

If you submit your expenses at the end of the month, doesn't the 3-4 week period mean you get your expenses about the same time you have to pay your credit card bill?

There should be a policy that allows for charging any charges incurred if you are unable to fund the cashflow.

I liked being in control of the perks by choosing cards to spend on and use cashback sites for bookings.

If the expenses system can cope with weekly there should be no reason for you not be able to submit weekly.

I think my lot run a weekly expenses protocol, so the cherished manager does a Leave & Subs sweep at least once a day & the indolent slacker manager has it in the calendar once a week & heaven help you if they're off that day...

Keep a thoughtful grip on your manager's throat? Or other tender areas? You can reasonably point out that they have you by the wallet...

    As explained above,
I put my expenses over the course on a month on one claim as I am not supposed to claim more frequently. So at the time I submit the claim, the first items were spent a month ago (worst case). It can then take 2-3 weeks for the various approvals and another 4 to 9 days to be paid.
So by the time it reaches my bank account it will be up to 8 weeks since I spent the money.

The previous system we put expenses in whenever you wanted and it mainly depended on your line manager so could be done in under 2 weeks.

it is actually personal in that I am liable not my company. I am not prepared for my corporate spending to go on my credit record.

I haven't yet had a problem managing cash-flow myself, but I wondered what people considered reasonable! I can see that the timescale is not much more than other people experience.

Why not use a credit card and rack up points or cash back at least? If anything (if you pay it off every month) it'll strengthen your credit.

Like I said, time it wrong nearly anywhere and you'll be waiting two months.
