    If you knew the date on which you wanted to take your lump sum, why not apply well before then so that the necessary checks can be completed in good time? This isn't a bank account where the funds can just be drawn down and paid out.
    Googling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!
