NRAM incorrect charge

Hi - will keep it brief!
I took out Together mortgage in 2004 and was charged an arrangement fee of £495. This was my first mortgage so all new to me and was reassured by broker everything was sorted etc.
A number of years later when northern rock mortgages were on the news I read into mine (which was closed in 2006) that the Together mortgage featured a zero arrangement fee - so I believe that I was charged almost £500 in error.
I have contacted NRAM about it in the past and they say as I was claiming more than 6 years after the payment then they are not required to uphold my complaint - i thought the 6 year deadline applied to bank account charges not mortgage loan charges, I have paperwork evidence - is it worth pursuing again?

That's from 2002 and seems to indicate that at least one of the "Together" products had an arrangement fee. It may well be the case that there were periods where it was fee-free and others where a fee was charged and you happened to take it out when they were charging a fee.0 -
Thanks for your reply boo_star - I actually have a print out of northern rock mortgage features with copyright 2003 on it that was given to me by my advisor in Jan 2004 when I was arranging the mortgage and it states Together mortgages do not charge an arrangement fee - I am not sure why the oversight was never picked up at the time - but as I said I have proof I was charged it and proof that I should not have been charged it.0

Are you sure it wasn’t the broker’s arrangement fee rather than a lender arrangement fee?I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. What proof do you have that they should not have charged it?
And as LRmortgage says it may have been a broker's arrangement fee.0 -

No, the '6 year deadline', aka s5 Limitation Act 1980, "An action founded on simple contract shall not be brought after the expiration of six years from the date on which the cause of action accrued", applies to all contracts.
I'm guessing that it's more than six months since you made your original complaint, so the FOS won't consider.
Nowhere to go I'm afraid.0
