DWP stopping my pension ?

I received a letter this morning from the Department of Work & Pensions to inform me they are stopping my State Pension as from 4th June 2019, no explanation, they just say they are stopping it because they cannot contact me ! I have had no e-mail or any other correspondance or phone call from them. Can they do this ? The office is closed until Monday but it is very worrying. Has anyone experienced the same ?

Could it be a scam? Does the letter ask you do something?
If you will the end, you must will the means.

Don't panic. Ring DWP on Monday from a number you source yourself (not from the letter) as it sounds like a scam.

Don't use any numbers on the letter!!
How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)
  • Thanks for replying, the letter asks me to ring them before 18th July !!!
  • It does sound unusual (for State Pension),

That would only be if they suspected fraud in respect of pension credit or other means tested benefits, not the actual State pension.

If the OP is only in receipt of a State pension, then it does smack of a scam - perhaps they would ask for 'confirmation' of current bank details etc ?

Your State Pension Increase letter (you'd have received it in March) should give contact details for queries.

    Ring on Monday.
