P45 question

I’ve emailed my previous employer so hopefully they will get back to me on Monday. I don’t want to hand in the incorrect P45 as proof of NI so I’ll wait until it’s corrected. I must admit some of my paperwork is in a bit of a jumble so not sure where my last P60 is to use an alternative proof. And I got electronic payslips at my last job which I forgot to download before I left and now can’t remember my login details. That’s why I thought the P45 would be the quickest and easiest way to obtain a document for proof. Oh how wrong was I!!
I understand HMRC will have received an electronic copy of the incorrect P45, so I’m likely to pay more tax than necessary in June’s pay I think. As long as it gets sorted out in the end it’s not too big a deal for me.
I did fill in a whole heap of new starter paperwork when I got the job offer and contract sent to me, but that was back in February so I can’t remember exactly what was in it. I’ve been told by my current HR that all they are missing is my proof of NI so I guess I must have filled it in. I’ll check on Monday.0 -
Why do they need the "proof" of your NI number? Have you given them the NINo already? Are they using something with your NINo as an ID document?0

I have given them my NI number but they want something as proof too (payslip, P45, etc).
I have provided my passport as proof of ID.0 -
I must say, it always makes me very happy when I have an official document with the NINo on, so that I'm not dependent on a) someone remembering their NINo correctly and b) my deciphering their handwriting correctly ...I have given them my NI number but they want something as proof too (payslip, P45, etc).
I have provided my passport as proof of ID.Signature removed for peace of mind0
