I'm debt free!

Options
Hi everyone,

it wasn't much of a diary as I cancelled my broadband to keep costs down which meant I couldn't log in. So I now have to let everyone know, a) because I'm pleased with myself and b) because I'm hoping to inspire others, that I am now debt free. :D

I was credit card debt free on 30/05/18 (had started with about £6000) :j and then last year I began paying my sister back to the tune of £2600, or something in that ballpark, and finished in May 2019!

When I signed up on here I stared with 10,000 in total debt which included £4000 for a car to my mum. I don't think I have gone into my overdraft at all this year (been very near it though!). I am in the black as they say!

I was going to buy a bottle of champagne (Lidl's of course) but then my sister had a baby and then got married so there were other great things to toast but I really should celebrate.

Keep going you guys, you will get there. Every little spend counts but be good to yourself along the way with treats that don't cost too much. If you are on here then your head is no longer buried in the sand but if you still have the "in for a penny in for a pound" mentality at all DITCH IT as that mentality got me in debt and ditching it is what got me here. I wrote down everything I spent and still do and it keeps an awareness going. I know how much things cost.

It's a slow thing to pay off debt and it feels like you'll never get there but time passes and you will...just picture it!
