NHS starting salary

NHS no longer offer final salary pension for new starters from 2015.
It's CARE (so, still DB) with a higher accrual rate than the last (2008) final salary version of the scheme, and an above-inflation revaluation rate for active members. Normal pension age is a bit higher, but for someone who spends their career never paying higher rate tax, it's either much of a muchness or not much worse than the 2008 scheme.0 -
Hi
I can’t seem to start a new post.
I’m starting at the bottom of a band 3 next week at around £18,800 but in April this year the bottom of a band 3 will be £19,713. So will I move to that pay in April?0 -

I hope the slip of more THEN instead of more THAN was a predictive text slip.
Sorry to raise this but on a salary of 32 thousand I would expect someone to get this right.Blackpool_Saver is female, and does not live in Blackpool0 -

I’m my recruiting experience (of which I have a fair bit) a few years ago yes you could negotiate, but not for a few years now. It’s minimum for everyone.0 -
Aside from the pension, you get 35 days AL starting, 6 months full sick pay and guaranteed salary increase.
I’m real terms your current increase isn’t that high; 5k after tax, NI and pension, is £250 a month.
35 days a year? As starting? Is this under agenda for change?
Guaranteed salary increase -What happens once you reach top of your band 5? Yes if u want a salary increase and a salary that doesn't come close to rate on inflatation then yeah sure it's a guaranteed increase.
I've been top of band 6 for 5 years and I've had.....one increase of 3%. That's close to 0.5% a year.
250 a month extra isn't that high :rotfl:0 -
27 days annual leave plus bank holidays for new starters0

In my organisation it is still doable but not as easy as it used to be. I have got it agreed for somehow I recruited recently but it was quite tortuous.
It now needs senior HR manager sign off whereas previously it was basically up to the line manager and/or budget holder.0
