Amount of Government Bonus Help To Buy ISA

I was wondering about the amount of bonus that I could get with my husband.
We both have Help to buy ISA accounts.
In total £16 000
We are only paying £12000 deposit on our new home.
Does it matter that we have extra £4000 left?Can we get the bonus on that balance even then we do not use it towards the house purchase?
