We are virtually debt free but the purse is going to have to be padlocked, I need to build up a decent emergency pot pretty quickly.
My OH is 86 and in poor health, should anything happen to him I would have to pay full rent and council tax until my financial situation is sorted out. Funeral plans in place for both of us, but I will need money for various other things. I have set up a savings pot to squirrel money away for the next few months, have used money plus to forecast what spare cash I will have at the end of each month from now till the end of the year. I really need at least 3 months expenses laid aside, so may have to add to it next year. Its difficult to actually work out what I might need and how much I will get in pensions etc, I did a rough guide to expenditure......... around £800 per month, so I am going to need in excess of £2400 for 3 months, its not going to be easy, but it has to be done. I will chart my progress on here.
We have 1 debt on a 0% cc I pay £200 a month to clear the balance, it should drop off in September if I keep the payments at the present level. I really do not want to have to extend the payment period. It would give me extra to put away if its paid off.
