Thanks for the suggestion. Knowing them, I doubt that would affect their decision one way or the other.Takeaway_Addict wrote: »Negotiate with them- offer to pay back some of the maternity pay (which no doubt they will reduce to SMP for anyone else once you move) in return for a shortened notice period0

Thanks again for all the responses and especially to getmoreless. I'm much more clear eyed of the different ways in which this can pan out.
I will update the thread once all this comes to pass. Fingers crossed I get a firm offer this week!0 -
Final Update:
I got a firm offer (yay!), accepted it and put in my resignation. My current employer is unwilling to waive or reduce the 3 months notice (my manager said that, given I've been on maternity, he's absolutely fine with me leaving without notice but that it's company policy when moving to a direct competitor).
However, they have put me on gardening leave so I will be on full pay for the next 3 months.
Thanks again.0 -

Great result and thanks for the updateDon't trust a forum for advice. Get proper paid advice. Any advice given should always be checked0 -
That's a result since they did not have to pay all of it.0

Gardening leave comes with a lot of conditions as per the contract - I need to let them know where I'm moving to and in what role, zero contact allowed with any of my colleagues, customers, partners, no access to the office, anything in the public domain that suggests a current link between myself and the employer to be taken down, etc etc
Maybe they couldn't require me to adhere to all the above in a normal notice period? I don't know.0 -
There is a problem with that as you are still on contract.
What date would they want on a LinkedIn account that employment was terminated.
You can't contact anyone to get a reference removed, you can only remove those you have access to.
Head down and let the clock run down.0
