My husband and I have found our forever home. My husband is a locum gp. He has been qualified for 4 years now, in that time he has been self employed but was employed last year for one year at a local university as a medical lecturer. He also did a few locum shifts on the side so was still self employed. Since August he has gone back to self employed 4 days a week and 1 dat teaching.
Our mortgage broker has stated that we are back to square one and have only 10 months self employed history and put it on our mortgage application which has got denied due to less than a year self employment history. We are desperate for this house. Is there any advice for us for a next step?
We have 55% deposit as have spent the last 7 years saving. (I am now a stay at home parent). He will be earning 81k projected (he has also a verbal agreement for the next 6 months at a surgery).

The brokers know better but I think you can still be in the "special" class of borrowers as in a profession that generally does not have a problem getting work and pay tends to go up in early years.
What do the numbers look like that will help those in the know guide on how difficult it could be to place.
A healthy deposit should help.
