Thank you. Can l ask where you visited and did you stay away for the whole year? We are in the early stages of planning. Totally agree that the right time is now because you never know what is round the corner.
We have been in Uganda volunteering for the past year.

You may find your employer allows you a year off and keeps the job open; have you asked them?
This is what happened when I took a year out. Even if you don't particularly want to return to your current job it takes a lot of pressure off knowing there's a job waiting for you when you return. If you can arrange this with your current employer I'd recommend it.0 -

Woops. Sorry, I misread it.
The big challenge on taking a year out would be working out a reasonable budget and then stick to it. Renting out your home might be an option to raise funds but being a remote landlords can also be more hassle than it's worth.0 -
Employer here, I wouldn't see it as a problem. I'm presuming you have a pretty solid work history which shows you've stuck at a career. Your OH being made redundant gave you an opportunity. I would think that you would come back re-energis3d . Enjoy yourself!Yes I'm bugslet, I lost my original log in details and old e-mail address.0
